Life Sciences

hygienic, reliable, smart

In life sciences applications, the quality of handling determines the quality of the result: vials, syringes, tubes, or microtiter plates must be moved safely, gently, and without risk of contamination – while maintaining high cycle rates. WEISS ROBOTICS supplies gripping technology that combines purity and process reliability: compact, hygienic CLG grippers for fine laboratory handling and STERIGRIP modules for aseptic cleanroom and isolator processes. If you want to get started quickly, choose GRIPKIT LS and automate typical laboratory workflows in no time at all with plug-and-play.

Solutions by WEISS ROBOTICS

Universal

Thanks to preset-based configuration, gripping modules can be parameterized dynamically to cope with high part diversity.

Cleanroom-compatible

Gripper solutions such as STERIGRIP support sterile processes and meet the highest cleanliness requirements, up to GMP environments.

Sensitive

Force-controlled, gentle gripping reliably protects delicate samples, vials, syringes, or bags from damage.

Reliable

Integrated gripper part detection identifies feeding and depositing errors, ensuring high reliability of the test process.

Precise mechanics

Accurate pick-up and placement enable reproducible laboratory processes – from microscopy placement to centrifuge loading.

Modular

With GRIPLINK technology and plugins for all leading robots/cobots, EOAT components can be integrated seamlessly and quickly.

Applications at a glance:

  • Handling of vials and cartridges
  • Assembly of medical devices
  • Packaging solutions / Dosing and filling
  • Quality inspection, inline documentation
  • Sample preparation and sorting

Examples of use

Microtray handling

A strong team: The IEG PLUS 40 gripper from Weiss Robotics and the ABB GoFa cobot precisely position and remove microtrays for microscopic analysis.

Sterile Vial Handling

The CLG 30 servo gripper is the core of HERMA’s 211R HC labeling cell: it handles vials, pens, syringes and cartridges with precise, gentle, and highly repeatable pick-and-place, ensuring reliable 24/7 operation and enabling a 25% higher throughput while maintaining consistently high labeling quality.

Automated blood sample handling

The GRIPKIT LS on a D-Bot from Delta Electronics grips and positions test tubes precisely and gently for safe, low-contamination sample transfer.

Sterile Vial Handling

The STERIGRIP series enables aseptic, low-contamination pick-and-place of vials in automated laboratory processes. With a cleanliness certification exceeding GMP Class A, the grippers meet even the highest pharmaceutical requirements.

Dexterity at the Microscope

KUKA KR Agilus and the CRG 30-050 gripper package with GRIPLINK enable ARGOS to perform safe, highly precise slide handling. Sensitive glass slides are reliably picked from magazines and positioned accurately in the microscope/scanner – ensuring efficient digital pathology.

High-Throughput Infusion Flacon Handling

A Weiss Robotics application package on a Yaskawa robot grips multiple infusion flacons in parallel and positions them precisely in trays or process stations.
Thanks to GRIPLINK technology and the simultaneous use of four IEG PLUS 30-020 servo grippers, this enables fast, high-throughput transfer.

Handling of Blood and Plasma Bags

An ABB GoFa cobot equipped with a GRIPLINK application package from Weiss Robotics combines an IEG PLUS 40-020 gripper, a Schmalz vacuum unit, and SICK sensors to safely, gently, and precisely grip, pick, and position flexible bags in laboratory and pharmaceutical workflows.
