“This year’s Automatica was a great success for us!”
From 27 to 30 June 2023, the focus at the Weiss Robotics stand A5.304 was on the quick and easy integration of smart servo-electric grippers. True to the motto ‘Smart grippers. Easy to integrate’, the Ludwigsburg-based company showcased not only innovative gripping modules but also system concepts for intelligent automation. The key technology on display was GRIPLINK, a ‘link’ that enables servo-electric grippers and other tools to be integrated or replaced quickly and with minimal programming effort.
“Automatica was a great success for us this year,” said Dr Karsten Weiß, CEO of Weiss Robotics. “It is simply the ideal platform for presenting innovations and new trends to the industry and for receiving important feedback from customers.” With their stand concept, ‘Smart Grippers. Easy to Integrate’, the Ludwigsburg-based company addressed a key issue in the industry: namely, the simple integration of servo-electric grippers.
Greater flexibility in production
Time and again, manufacturing companies face the major challenge of designing their production processes flexibly so they can respond to rapidly changing product cycles. “It’s almost impossible to respond to this with pneumatic solutions,” explained Dr Karsten Weiß, CEO of Weiss Robotics, at the trade fair. “GRIPLINK technology enables these customers to solve highly complex gripping tasks flexibly and cost-effectively.”
GRIPLINK is also equipped with dedicated software tailored to the respective robot types. GRIPLINK is now compatible with more than ten robot types. In addition to energy efficiency and greater system flexibility, data consistency is another key argument in favour of using GRIPLINK.
For example, measured values can be retrieved and used for process optimisation. This is a major advantage that increases system availability and saves costs. “Our customers gave us very positive feedback on this aspect in particular at the trade fair,” says Sascha Wittig, Head of Sales and Marketing at Weiss Robotics.
The stand was well attended
“But our other exhibits were also very well received, such as the new WPG 300-120 universal grippers with a 120 mm stroke, 300 N gripping force and direct cloud connectivity.” The servo-electric gripper module with an Ethernet interface is suitable for universal use. It features sensorless gripping force control, integrated gripper position detection and monitoring, and can also be freely positioned; it is available as an integration solution for all leading robot manufacturers.
“Our stand was actually always very well attended,” summarises Sascha Wittig, “and we are very much looking forward to following up on our customers’ enquiries outside the trade fair as well.”

Smart grippers. Easy to integrate
From 27 to 30 June 2023, the focus at the Weiss Robotics stand A5.304 will be on the quick and easy integration of smart servo-electric grippers. True to the motto ‘Smart grippers. Easy to integrate’, the Ludwigsburg-based company will be showcasing not only innovative gripping modules but also system concepts for intelligent automation. The key technology here is GRIPLINK, a ‘link’ that enables servo-electric grippers and other tools to be integrated or replaced quickly and without significant programming effort.
“As the leading trade fair for automation and robotics, Automatica is a very important platform for us. We are very much looking forward to meeting our customers and presenting our system concepts for the future,” said Dr Karsten Weiß, CEO of Weiss Robotics. The stand concept at Weiss Robotics is entirely based on the motto ‘Smart grippers. Easy to integrate.’ In doing so, the Ludwigsburg-based company is addressing a key issue in the industry.
Demand for easy integration of servo-electric grippers
“Our customers tell us almost daily about the major challenges in their manufacturing processes, which they can hardly cope with using pneumatic solutions any longer,” explains Dr Karsten Weiß, CEO of Weiss Robotics. “Our digitalised world demands customised products that must be manufactured in ever-shorter cycles. GRIPLINK enables these customers to flexibly solve highly complex gripping tasks.” Whereas servo-electric grippers previously required additional planning and programming effort, the new technology ensures simple integration and flexibility.
The hardware is also equipped with corresponding software tailored to the respective robot types. GRIPLINK is now compatible with more than ten robot types. “The advantages of such an innovative approach are obvious,” says Dr Karsten Weiß. “In addition to energy efficiency and greater system flexibility, data consistency is another strong argument in favour of using GRIPLINK.”
For example, measured values can be read back and used for process optimisation. This is a major advantage that increases system availability and saves costs.
Wide range of gripper modules
As well as GRIPLINK, Weiss Robotics is also showcasing a wide range of new gripping modules at Automatica:
For example, the new WPG 300-120 universal gripper with a 120 mm stroke, 300 N gripping force and direct cloud connectivity. This servo-electric gripper module with an Ethernet interface is suitable for universal use. It features sensorless gripping force control, integrated gripper separation detection and monitoring, and can also be freely positioned; it is available as an integration solution for all leading robot manufacturers.
The new servo grippers in the IEG PLUS series, meanwhile, offer a sealed control unit and 30 per cent more gripping force. They are ideally suited to the handling of small parts in assembly automation. The patented belt-driven kinematics enable precise and sensitive gripping over the entire stroke and provide 30 per cent higher gripping force compared to the IEG series. Thanks to the fundamentally redesigned housing, collaborative applications can now also benefit from the reliable IEG PLUS series. Ready-to-use GRIPKITs with suitable robot plug-ins are available for easy integration into robot applications

Weiss Robotics is showcasing smart gripper solutions for the biotech and pharmaceutical industries at PharmaTechnica and PharmaCongress
Weiss Robotics will be showcasing the benefits of its smart grippers for the biotech and pharmaceutical industries at stand B 23 at PharmaTechnica in Wiesbaden on 28 and 29 March. The highlight is the STERIGRIP series. These are high-performance, ISO Class 3-certified gripper modules with a hygienic design for aseptic handling tasks in isolators. As part of the “PharmaCongress” conference held in conjunction with the trade fair, Head of Sales and Marketing Sascha Wittig will also explain the benefits of state-of-the-art gripper technologies in the context of the new GMP Annex 1 during his presentation.
The combined exhibition and congress format ‘PharmaTechnica & PharmaCongress’ was designed in recent years to become one of the most important meeting places for the pharmaceutical industry in Europe. “PharmaTechnica is the ideal platform for us to demonstrate our expertise in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors,” said Dr Karsten Weiß, founder and managing director of Weiss Robotics.
Cleanroom certification: GMP Class A
The new gripper modules in the STERIGRIP series have the highest cleanliness certification, GMP Class A, and, when installed, meet protection class IP 65. The protective materials used are FDA-compliant and compatible with all standard CIP/SIP processes. The hygienic design, featuring materials proven in the pharmaceutical industry throughout, simplifies decontamination and protects the product from contamination and carry-over of active ingredients.
The STERIGRIP series also features high-precision gripper part recognition and monitoring, which eliminates the need for external sensors. The sensorless gripper force control ensures stable conditions during gripping, thereby maximising the reliability of the gripping process, particularly with sensitive and difficult-to-handle parts. The flexible pre-positioning of the fingers allows for flexibility in the design of pick-up and set-down positions.
The largest model in the series, the STERIGRIP 200-085, is also equipped with an integrated PERMAGRIP grip force safety mechanism. This secures the part being gripped even during a power cut, thereby reliably protecting the process from failure.
Easy integration thanks to an integrated flange adapter and GRIPLINK
To facilitate easy integration, the STERIGRIP series is fitted with an integrated flange adapter for direct mounting onto a Stäubli TX2 robot. The GRIPLINK also enables ready-to-use integration with the Stäubli CS9 robot controller in no time at all.
“We have designed the STERIGRIP series specifically for ultra-clean applications in isolators, as our customers have a great need for intelligent and safe grippers in this field,” says Dr Karsten Weiß. “We are very much looking forward to the feedback from visitors to our stand.”

Weiss Robotics GmbH & Co.KG is presenting its latest gripper modules in a smart and practical way at the ‘All About Automation’ exhibition in Friedrichshafen
Weiss Robotics GmbH & Co. KG will be presenting no fewer than three new gripper modules to its customers at the “All About Automation” trade fair in Friedrichshafen on 7 and 8 March.
The absolute highlight at stand B1-218 will be the new GRIPLINK technology, which makes it easier for users to integrate servo-electric grippers. Furthermore, the Ludwigsburg-based company is, as ever, taking a solution-oriented approach. One area of the stand is dedicated exclusively to advising customers based on the components they bring with them.
Servo-electric grippers are a future-proof solution for a wide range of tasks. Markets are characterised by a fast-paced nature that can no longer be managed with conventional technology. “A constantly changing product can only be handled with adaptable grippers and tools,” says Dr Karsten Weiß. “However, many users are put off by the integration effort required for such smart gripping solutions.” That is now set to change, as the latest development from Weiss Robotics ensures the simple integration of end-of-arm tools – be it the gripper or other tools: the GRIPLINK.
GRIPLINK acts as a sort of ‘bridge’ or ‘link’ to which a servo-electric gripper, a vacuum pump, a sensor or another tool can be connected – quite simply, without the need for expensive and time-consuming changeover times on the production line. This enables customers to make their production processes more flexible and future-proof with servo-electric gripper modules. For example, with the
CLG 30-006 – the world’s smallest servo-electric gripper module. It features an IO-Link interface and is particularly suitable for handling very delicate components, such as those found in the electronics industry.
WPG 300-120: Ultra-flexible and cloud-connected
For the trade fair presentation, a Denso robot was fitted with the ultra-flexible WPG 300-120 gripper, which has a gripping force of over 300 N and can be connected directly to the cloud. The IEG Plus series from Weiss Robotics also offers over 30 per cent more gripping force than conventional models.
“Here at Weiss Robotics, we love to put ourselves in our customers’ shoes. Preferably right there on the spot,” says Dr Karsten Weiß, CEO of Weiss Robotics.
That’s why we strongly recommend that interested trade fair visitors pack up some components and bring them along. Perhaps this will turn the day at the trade fair into the first step towards a new solution for flexible production.
